It’s a cheap thing, your girlfriend will understand
+Surprisingly high ground clearance
+Looks cool
+Lots of room for gear with a small footprint
-Same 20mpg highway that my 12 year old V8 SUV gets
-Terrible noises (like worse than a Dodge Neon terrible) under throttle
-Remarkably slow merging acceleration
About 300 miles in 2 days around Houston and Hearne TX.

Next time you tag a post “Jeep”, make sure you include one.

Agreed.

Lol I’ll change it to Fiat

The renegade is a low range or diesel engine away from being really cool. Even a small change like 1.5:1 would make that little bit of difference.

Absolutely.

It has no round headlights, it’s not a Jeep!
Haha

As a Renegade owner, I just have to say that I’m sorry you had to deal with the 2.4/auto. Mine’s a 1.4 turbo/fwd and it makes far better noises even though it runs out of steam ~1000 rpm before redline.
Also, it gets closer to 27 in Sport guise. But the MySky is pretty awesome.

Yeah the fact that you can’t get the turbo 1.4 in every model is a bummer. This is a rental so I’ll survive.

Isn’t the diesel even the most powerful engine choice?

Positively.

The tigershark takes it by 5 peak horsepower (but far less average power)

But in traffic, the diesel has it where it counts.

More importantly, on the trail. At “active drive moan” speeds ( 1400 to 1700 rpm) the multi jet II will out power the tiger shark by a lot...and it only takes that extra bit as Fred pointed out

Indubitably.

I can attest to that. We get the 1.4T with a DCT option here in the U.K. and thats how we optioned our Renegade. Around town and at RPM under about 4K it pulls nicely but overtaking is definitely not my favourite thing to do.

I did a review on mine. 1.4/6m fwd and it at least feels quicker shifting at 5000 rather than 6500 rpm

I’ll have a look! We had a manual 1.4 as a loaner for a couple days and I found it to be much more fun and also quicker. Did you by any chance have any issues with your bonnet?
